Going by boat to cheese farm “De Willigen”, situated on the river Vecht, that unique river with its wonderful old mansions between the villages Vreeland and Nigtevecht. The farm has a fine landing stage at channel depth.

On this over one century old farm, the farmers Rijk and David Willig (father and son) tend the farm’s app. 70 cows and the meadows.. The Farmer’s wife Coby uses the milk of those cows to make cheese by hand in the old-fashioned way. Farmer’s wife Yolanda used the milk and fresh fruit to make delicious ice-creames.

In the old cowshed you can see the inventory of an old cheese dairy and other tools which have been used by the farmer’s grandparents. On the other side of the cowshed is a series of photographs in which you can follow the cheese-making process. Of course you are free to taste the cheeses with all kinds of different herbs tot enable your personal choice.

Maybe you are interested in seeing the new cowshed? Well, grab the opportunity and see the dairy at the same time! Entrance is free! The cheese-and ice-creamfarm is open all year round and if you wish we also welcome up to 150 guests by appointment.

You can also find us by car and bicycle through Nigtevecht or Vreeland. It is a wonderful trip in a beautiful countryside; on your way you can see up to three windmills. Our cheese farm is near the second windmill.
